Mamata Banerjee on arrest of Iskcon priest Chinmoy Krishna Das: 'We are with Centre on this'
NEW DELHI: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday condemned the latest arrest of Iskcon priest Chinmoy Krishna Das in Bangladesh and called upon the central government to take necessary actions.
In the legislative assembly, Mamata said that no religion should be hurt and her government is with the Central government on this.

Earlier on Tuesday, India had expressed "deep concern" over these developments. On Tuesday, the Indian government urged Bangladeshi authorities to ensure the safety and security of all minority groups, including Hindus.
It sought for "peaceful coexistence" by the Bangladeshi authority between the Hindus and herself for, following the arrest of senior Hindu leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari.
ISKCON Bangladesh on her part issued a release condemning the arrest along with the violence unleashed to other areas across the country targeted the Sanatani community.
We strongly condemn the recent arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das. We also condemn the violence and attacks against Sanatanis in different regions of Bangladesh," said ISKCON Bangladesh general secretary Charu Chandra Das Brahmachari.
"We urge the government authorities to promote peaceful coexistence for the Sanatani community," he said.
Chinmoy Krishna Das, a spokesperson of Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatani Jagran Jote, was detained by lawmen at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka while he was on his way to Chattogram to attend a rally.
