NANDED (Maharashtra) : An elderly farmer was found murdered in Vaka village on the outskirts of Nanded town on Wednesday morning.
Police have launched a probe to ascertain if the incident has anything to do with his son's murder three years ago.
The deceased has been identified as Kisan Hari Khose (60), who, apart from farming, sold milk. Nanded superintendent of police Abinash Kumar said that four teams at police station level, apart from those from local crime branch, have been formed to detect the case and arrest the accused.
"Our teams are trying to ascertain the motive behind the murder as this is reportedly the second murder in the family within a span of three years," said another senior police officer.
Kiran had left home at 5.45 am to walk to his farm, which is less than 2 km from the village. According to preliminary probe, it was when he was on his way to his farm that he was attacked. Osmannagar police station's assistant inspector Chandrakant Pawar told News Agency, "The elderly man was attacked on his neck with a sharp weapon. We are also trying to ascertain the total number of accused involved in the crime."
Police suspect it was a premeditated murder by a person who might have been lying in wait on roadside for him. Police said a case of murder has been registered against the unidentified suspect based on a complaint from the victim's son.
Police records show that on May 16, Kisan's son Vashisht was allegedly murdered by an accused named Ananda Hambarde, who is now out on bail. The police said that they neither consider him as a suspect nor give him a clean chit.
