The swearing-in ceremony will take place on Thursday, December 5, at 5:30 pm at Azad Maidan in Mumbai, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries. An official invitation card released by the state government confirms Fadnavis's appointment, following the Mahayuti alliance's decisive victory in the Maharashtra Assembly elections.

Fadnavis, with outgoing chief minister Eknath Shinde and former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, will meet Governor C P Radhakrishnan today to formally stake claim to form the government. The BJP legislative party unanimously elected Fadnavis as its leader during a meeting at the Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan, where Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman and former Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani served as central observers. Chandrakant Patil and Sudhir Mungantiwar formally proposed Fadnavis's name for the position.

During his acceptance speech, Fadnavis thanked the party and the people of Maharashtra as he called the elections "historic" and emphasized that it is the trust of the people which has been placed in Mahayuti. He even borrowed slogans from Prime Minister Modi, saying, "Ek hai toh safe hai" and "Modi hai toh mumkin hai." He even thanked Shinde, Pawar, and other leaders of the alliance for support.

The preparation for the oath-taking ceremony has already begun in full gear. Fadnavis, Shinde, and Pawar of Mahayuti visited Azad Maidan on Wednesday to survey the preparations. It will formally introduce a strong majority Maharashtra Assembly to power, having 288 members. Leaders from NDA, various chief ministers, and many other eminent people would attend the swearing-in ceremony.
