Congress Intensifies Protest Over Ambedkar's Insult, Targets Amit Shah with Nationwide Movement

New Delhi: Even after the conclusion of the winter session of Parliament, the Congress Party is determined to keep the pressure on Home Minister Amit Shah over the alleged insult to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The party has announced that it will take this issue to the public, demanding Shah’s resignation and an apology. Congress aims to sustain the issue until the Budget session, and it is strategizing for a multi-level protest.

Congress is not willing to let this opportunity slip by, especially after the show of unity from opposition alliance INDIA's constituent parties on this issue. The Congress party is taking advantage of this moment and will initiate a nationwide movement. To kick off, senior leaders of Congress will hold press conferences in major cities and state capitals this Sunday.

Key Highlights:

A roadmap is being drawn to keep the issue alive until the Budget session, with Congress also planning an aggressive stance on the FIR filed against Rahul Gandhi.

Congress prepares for a nationwide protest, with the first phase focusing on press conferences led by party leaders across the country.

After the conclusion of the winter session, Congress is still focused on its demand for the resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah over the alleged insult to Dr. Ambedkar. The party plans to extend the issue into the public domain and launch protests across India. To maintain the momentum, Congress is finalizing the plans for a nationwide movement that will span several phases, with the first one involving a series of press conferences by key party leaders.

This strategy follows the opposition alliance INDIA's show of solidarity, with members participating in a protest march from Vijay Chowk to Parliament, including Congress MPs. The party views this as moral support for their cause.

Next week, during the proposed Congress Working Committee meeting in Belagavi, Karnataka, the party will discuss the detailed framework of the movement. Prior to that, senior leaders will begin holding press conferences across the country to keep the issue in the limelight.

In these press conferences, Congress will continue to highlight the issue of Ambedkar’s insult and send the message that the BJP, along with the central government, is using a legal and media ecosystem to defame Rahul Gandhi by filing multiple cases against him to prevent him from speaking for the marginalized and Dalit communities.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi also spoke out against the BJP after participating in the protest march. She emphasized, "The whole country is watching the numerous cases filed against Rahul. No matter how much BJP tries to distract attention, the insult to Baba Saheb will not be tolerated by the people, and we will not back down from our demands. The BJP will have to apologize."

Jairam Ramesh, the party’s Communications Chief, said that the FIR filed against Rahul Gandhi was not just about him but was an attack on Dr. Ambedkar. He further stated that the BJP government has filed charges against Rahul Gandhi for raising the issue of Ambedkar’s insult. Pawan Khera, the head of the media department, emphasized, "We will not allow Amit Shah to escape responsibility in the matter of disrespecting Baba Saheb."

The Congress Party is determined to ensure that the issue stays at the forefront of the political discourse, demanding justice for Dr. Ambedkar and a formal apology from the Home Minister.
