Theatre releases note saying it had sought prior permission for the actor's visit, police say it was denied

With the Hyderabad Police and Telangana government coming in for criticism over the arrest of actor Allu Arjun, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy Friday said that he would issue a statement after ascertaining what had happened. He was responding to queries from media persons outside the Parliament in the evening.

Hyderabad Police, especially officials from Chikkadpally police station and Chikkadpally division, came in for flak during the day for the manner in which they took Arjun into custody, allegedly following him to his bedroom.

However, questions are also being thrown at the police for its treatment of the crowd on that evening of December 4 as a stampede that killed one and left her son critical happened near Sandhya Theatre after the preview night of Pushpa 2 there had ended.

While the police have targeted the management of the Sandhya Theatre for failing to intimating them in advance, the theatre management has come up with an apparent copy of a letter they supposedly submitted to the Assistant Commissioner of Police of Chikkadpally division informing of the actor's visit to grace the premiere on December 4 and sought police bandobast on that date.

The theatre owners said they had written to the police two days in advance and sought police bandobast. The supposed letter from December 2 says: "We request you to arrange to provide police bandobast at Sandhya 70 MM in connection with the release of Pushpa 2 on December 4 because there will be a heavy fans crowd.". The hero, heroine, VIPs and production unit of the film are coming to watch the movie, it quotes.

However, according to police officials, the ACP's office replied back to the theatre asking them not to invite Arjun and other cast members that would create a law and order situation.

"Allu Arjun also took out a small road show near the theater for which there was no permission," an official claimed.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner of Police Akshansh Yadav had stated that neither was there any intimation by the theatre management as well as from the team of the actor concerned if they would visit the hall. "Theatre managements have not done additional arrangement to control crowd additionally while the additional entrance and exit are also not granted from theatre's management towards Actor Team,," he told ANI.

The police further alleged that the actor's security personnel were pushing people around, which made matters worse because of the crowd present at the theatre.
Nampally court puts Arjun to 14-day judicial custody as a result of letters exchanged between management of Sandhya Theatre and ACP (Chikkdapally), while the Telangana High Court allowed him interim bail for four weeks.

Both courts demanded a more precise account of the events which transpired between the managers of the theater and police and ordered each party to produce documents.
