Several top leaders in Maharashtra, including Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will file their nominations for the single-phased Assembly Elections on Monday.

The last date for the filing of nominations is Tuesday and various leaders across parties are scheduled to file their nomination papers today.

Assembly elections in the state will be held on November 20 and the counting of votes will be done on November 23, along with those of Jharkhand which goes to polls on November 13 and 20.

Top leaders to file nominations:
Eknath Shinde: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will file his nomination papers from Kopri-Pachpakhadi. His name was declared in the first list of candidates by Shiv Sena last week. He will face Shiv Sena UBT's Kedar Dighe. Shinde is a three-time MLA from the constituency

Baramati Constituency:- This constituency is said to have witnessed the contesting of none other than NCP candidate Sharad Pawar's grandson Yugendra Pawar as this time Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, an NCP nominee also contested, as per report, to be the constituent after becoming the successor of his predecessor due to the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 he had gone through defeat owing to the entry of Sharad Pawar's daughter, Supriya Sule, where he had emerged victorious without any contest; his wife, Sunetra, contested in his stead, now today filed the nomination of his own account.


Amit Thackeray: MNS chief Raj Thackeray's son Amit Thackeray has also entered the fray from Mahim constituency in Mumbai. Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena has declared its candidate Sada Sarwankar from the same seat, which has triggered controversy within the ruling Mahayuti. Mumbai BJP chief Ashish Shelar has urged Shinde to withdraw the candidacy of Sarwankar. Raj Thackeray had given unconditional support to the BJP in Lok Sabha polls to "make Modi PM again".

Vijay Wadettiwar: The Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly will again seek election from Bramhapuri constituency, which he is filing nomination from today. He is the two-term MLA from that seat.

Prithviraj Chavan: Congress stalwart Prithviraj Chavan is being tested from Karad South seat of Satara district; he is filing his nominations today. He is also a former chief minister and sitting MLA from Karad South.

Rohit Pawar: NCP-SP leader Rohit Pawar will file his nominations from Karjat Jamkhed today. He is the sitting MLA from there.

He, however, would face stiff competition from Nitesh Rane, the son of former chief minister of Maharashtra Narayan Rane. The BJP leader has been fielded from the Kankavli constituency and will file his nominations today.
