As many as 288 assembly constituencies of Maharashtra are going to reveal the vote count today along with the outcome in 81 seats of Jharkhand. Voting for the Maharashtra assembly elections happened on 20 November as a single phase. The results of the 2024 assembly election thus come amidst a spate of political upheavals in the state. In the previous assembly elections in 2019, the BJP-led alliance emerged with a majority. However, constituent Shiv Sena later withdrew from the alliance and aligned itself with the Congress and NCP to form the government under the aegis of Maha Vikas Aghadi. A subsequent split in the Shiv Sena saw one of its two factions joining the BJP-led Mahayuti and forming the government in 2022 under the chief ministership of Eknath Shinde. Shinde's camp won the original party name against the claims of the faction led by Uddhav Thackeray. In 2003, the NCP too broke into two parties, one which retained the original name under Ajit Pawar, and, a second camp under Sharad Pawar. Today's poll results, tracked live in the automated blog below, will show whether the voter across the state and the district of Marathwada accepts the rearrangement of assembly seat battle lines or not.
