Nagpur (Maharashtra) : In an unfortunate incident, former Maharashtra home minister and NCP (SP) leader Anil Deshmukh was left injured on Monday night when his car was pelted with stones in Nagpur district.
According to police this attack came around 8 pm near Belphata, on Jalalkheda Road near Katol when some unidentified persons attacked stones at the car in which former minister was returning from a meeting in Narkhed village.
Katol Civil Hospital Superintendent of Police, Nagpur Rural, Harssh Poddar said that senior officers were rushed to the spot and he was taken there to the Katol Civil Hospital for treatment.
"An investigation has started. Police are trying to trace the culprits," Poddar said.
This incident took place on the last day of the campaign for the Maharashtra assembly polls that are scheduled to be held on November 20.
Salil Deshmukh is son of Deshmukh who is contesting from Katol assembly constituency on the ticket of NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) against BJP's Charansingh Thakur for the 2024 Maharashtra assembly polls.
